Making your own pizza is a great family meal - pizza is a meal where kids can have choice. Try for 1/2 your toppings as vegetables, just like the healthy plate model.

10 minutes + 8 - 12 minutes cooking time

What you need

  • Base of your choice

  • Sauce of your choice

  • Toppings of your choice


Method

  1. Pick your base. For simple pizzas, use pre-made pizza bases, wraps, or pita bread.

  2. Pick your sauce. Choose from tomato paste, pizza sauce, cranberry sauce, or pesto.

  3. Add your toppings. Try and include at least two different vegetable toppings.

  4. Bake at 200°C for 8 - 12 minutes then serve.

Topping Ideas

  • Red, yellow or green pepper, sliced or chopped

  • Tomatoes, fresh or sun-dried, chopped

  • Mushrooms, finely sliced

  • Courgettes, finely sliced or grated

  • Baby spinach or rocket

  • Leftover roast vegetables

  • Capers

  • Green or black olives, whole or sliced

  • Pineapple pieces, canned or fresh

  • Mexican chilli beans

  • Salmon, tuna, chicken, or smoked chicken

  • Edam or feta cheese


Serving Suggestion

Serve with a green salad on the side.
