Porridge
Nothing beats a bowl of porridge in an Ōtautahi winter! We have lots of ideas to “posh it up”!

What you need
1/2 cup rolled or wholegrain oats
1 cup liquid (water or milk)
Method
Put oats and liquid in a small saucepan and bring to the boil.
Reduce heat and simmer until the oats are soft and creamy.
Pour into a bowl and serve.
Tip
Add yoghurt or milk - it helps maintain bone and muscle mass
Posh it up!
Add grated apple or chopped banana, dried fruit or cinnamon to the oats before cooking
Add toppings - chopped banana, chopped nuts, seeds, stewed prunes or other stewed fruit
