Nothing beats a bowl of porridge in an Ōtautahi winter! We have lots of ideas to “posh it up”!

What you need

  • 1/2 cup rolled or wholegrain oats

  • 1 cup liquid (water or milk)                                                            


Method

  • Put oats and liquid in a small saucepan and bring to the boil.

  • Reduce heat and simmer until the oats are soft and creamy.

  • Pour into a bowl and serve.


Tip

  • Add yoghurt or milk - it helps maintain bone and muscle mass

Posh it up!

  • Add grated apple or chopped banana, dried fruit or cinnamon to the oats before cooking

  • Add toppings - chopped banana, chopped nuts, seeds, stewed prunes or other stewed fruit
