Stewed Fruit
When fruit, such as apples, pears, nectarines, peaches or plums are plentiful you can stew them for breakfast or for dessert.
Preparation time
10 minutes
Stovetop method
Chop or slice fruit (leave skin on where possible) and put into a medium saucepan.
Add 2 tablespoons of water and cook on a medium heat with the lid on, until the fruit has softened.
Microwave method
Chop or slice fruit and place in a microwave proof bowl.
Add water to just cover the bottom of the bowl, cover and microwave on high for 6 - 8 minutes. Time may vary depending on your microwave and how ripe the fruit is.
Tip
You don’t need to add sugar - enjoy the natural sweetness of the fruit
Freeze for later!
Stewed fruit will last a few days in the fridge or can be frozen in small pottles
Remember to date and label fruit when you freeze it
